ENT procedure list:
EARS
- Otomicroscopy and removal of ear wax, infective debris or foreign body from one or both sides.
- Microbiology swab for infection (diagnostic procedure).
- Inserting pope wick and medications to treat infection.
- Drainage of traumatic or spontaneous pinna haematoma or seroma (emergency procedure).
NOSE
- Nasal cautery under local anaesthetic to treat epistaxis. Can be repeated after 4 weeks if necessary.
- Manipulation under local anaesthetic (MUA) of fractured nasal bones if injury is less than 3 weeks old.
- Removal of foreign body.
- Microbiology swab for infection (diagnostic procedure).
- Management of acute epistaxis with nasal packing (emergency procedure).
THROAT
- Aspiration and drainage of peritonsillar abscess (quinsy) under local anaesthetic (emergency procedure).
- Microbiology swab for infection (diagnostic procedure).
GENERAL ENT PROCEDURES
- Biopsy under local anaesthetic from head and neck area.
- Minor injury treatments including stitching of facial wounds.
- Repair of split ear lobes on one or both sides.
