Lipomas are soft, fatty lumps that grow under the skin. More information can be found here.
Lipomas must be removed immediately when: Their size, colour or shape change; Pain is experienced; They grow larger than 5 cm; The lump gets caught on clothes; Liposarcoma or sebaceous cysts are suspected or other concerning symptoms appear
If any lump increases in size or becomes painful, you must tell the doctor, as it can be a sign of a different condition.
Intervention methods for each patient are chosen individually according to the location of the lump, its size and other factors. These procedures will be carried out by our experienced surgeons.
Our aim is to fully remove the lipoma. This will require an assessment to determine the full size and depth of the lipoma and treatment options will then be discussed with you. Sometimes we may require an ultrasound scan prior to removal.
